More than 525,000 people in the Philadelphia region are expected to travel at least 50 miles from Thursday through Monday for Memorial Day, AAA said Tuesday.
About 470,000 travelers are forecast to drive — up 0.1% from a year ago — putting the region on track for a near-record holiday road weekend.
More than 38,000 people are expected to fly, down 0.3%, while nearly 17,000 are projected to take trains, buses or cruises, up 3.8%.
The overall forecast is only 0.2% above last year, suggesting holiday travel is holding steady despite higher fuel prices heading into the unofficial start of summer.
