More than 75% of homes in Hazard, Kentucky, now have access to Kinetic’s multi-gig internet, prompting the company to designate the city a “Gig-Ready Community.”
About 8,900 households can now use the fiber service, which Kinetic said is aimed at supporting work, education, streaming and telehealth with faster, more reliable connections.
Kinetic tied the network buildout to local economic gains, citing research that fiber-connected communities see 213% higher business growth, 10% higher self-employment and 14% to 17% higher home values.
The announcement extends Kinetic’s broader Kentucky expansion as the Uniti unit says it is adding fiber connections across the state after recent national recognition for rural fiber service.
