An 8:30 p.m. ET candlelight ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery was set to honor fallen U.S. service members on Memorial Day while marking the run-up to America’s 250th birthday.

Capt. Humbert "Rocky" Versace and Capt. Daniel W. Eggers were singled out for tribute, with organizers highlighting Versace’s Vietnam POW ordeal and Eggers’ death in Afghanistan alongside Afghan commandos.
Veterans, lawmakers and military families were expected to share reflections during the 8:30-10:00 p.m. event, which followed President Donald Trump’s Memorial Day address earlier Monday at Arlington.
