Alibaba said its new Zhenwu M890 AI chip delivers three times the performance of the Zhenwu 810E, marking its latest push to expand domestic AI computing in China.
The M890 carries 144 GB of GPU memory and 800 GB-per-second interchip bandwidth, while Alibaba also said its next-generation Qwen3.7-Max large language model will be released soon.
Alibaba said it has already shipped 560,000 Zhenwu units to more than 400 customers across 20 industries, suggesting its in-house chip platform is gaining commercial traction.
The launch comes as Nvidia struggles to sell advanced chips into China and after Alibaba and China Telecom in April announced a southern China data center powered by Alibaba's own chips.
