Four Pennsylvania U.S. House districts — the 1st, 7th, 8th and 10th — are shaping up as key fall battlegrounds, with Republican incumbents Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan McKenzie, Rob Bresnahan and Scott Perry defending competitive seats.
In the most notable Democratic primary result posted, Delaware County Council Chair Monica Taylor-backed candidate Bryan Harvie won 33,954 votes, or 65.0%, defeating Laura Simonelli in the 5th District-area contest.
Philadelphia’s open 3rd District primary produced the biggest multi-candidate tally so far, with state Rep. Chris Rabb leading on 56,281 votes, or 44.1%, ahead of Sharif Street at 29.4% and Anthony Stanford at 24.4%.
Elsewhere, Janelle Stelson took 71.1% with 34,172 votes in the Democratic contest tied to the 10th District, while Bethany Brooks led a crowded race with 41.7% in the 8th District.
The primary results begin to clarify Democrats’ challengers in a state that could feature four of the most closely watched House races in November, alongside an open-seat succession fight in deep-blue Philadelphia.
