Bob Brooks captured Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District Democratic primary with 25,486 votes, or 41.7%, in a four-way race the AP called Tuesday night.
Brooks won by a wide margin over Ryan Crosswell at 20.6%, Lamont G. McClure at 20.5% and Carol Obando-Derstine at 17.2%, with 61,109 votes reported.
County returns showed Brooks leading across the district, including Northampton by 15 points and Lehigh by 14 points, with Carbon and Monroe also breaking his way.
The victory sends Brooks into a competitive general election in a district Cook Political Report rates a toss-up; Republican incumbent Ryan Mackenzie was uncontested in his primary.
