Lawyers for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have begun drafting a prenuptial agreement ahead of a reported July 3 wedding, with Rhode Island, Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee and New York under review.
California was ruled out because its community-property rules generally split marital assets 50/50, while the couple wants a state that strongly enforces prenups and protects premarital, business and intellectual-property gains.
TMZ reported Rhode Island is viewed as the safest option for Swift, whose fortune is estimated at $2 billion, while New York is seen as the riskiest because judges there more often overturn prenups; Kelce is worth about $90 million.
The choice could shape any future property division regardless of where they live, and it comes as Kelce, 36, enters his 14th Chiefs season on a reworked deal with $12 million guaranteed and $3 million in incentives.
