A simple in-game workaround restores Subnautica 2’s missing 4K resolution option: switch to fullscreen, accept the default 1080p setting, then restart the game.
PC Gamer said it tested that fix on two affected machines and got the 4K option to appear afterward, pointing to a bug rather than a hardware limit.
Reddit users reported other fixes, including setting Windows 11 UI scaling to 100%, overriding high-DPI scaling in the game’s .exe properties, or manually editing resolution values in GameUserSettings.ini.
The issue surfaced as Subnautica 2 launched in early access, where bugs are expected even as the game posts strong early sales.
Outside the resolution glitch, PC Gamer said performance has been relatively smooth in testing, with better frame rates available by lowering some settings from Epic to High.
