Google Unveils Android 17 Continue On, Expands Magic Cue Beyond Pixel 10 Apps

Android 17 adds a new Continue On feature that lets users resume an app session on another Android device, with Google showing a phone-to-tablet Google Docs handoff via a taskbar suggestion.
Magic Cue also appears to be getting a redesign, shifting to a floating bottom-screen button with a close option, and Google said the proactive assistant will soon work in more apps.
The updated Magic Cue interface was shown running inside Snapchat, suggesting Google is moving the feature from Pixel 10-only surfaces toward a broader in-app overlay near where Gemini appears.
Google also used the session to highlight Wear OS 7, Android XR updates, unified call history across WhatsApp, Meet and Phone, new car media apps, Gemini Nano 4 and a new Live updates Metric Style.
