Sony Raises PS Plus Extra, Premium Prices Worldwide as 12-Month Plans Mostly Hold

Sony has rolled out higher PS Plus Extra and Premium prices worldwide for new or lapsed customers, expanding this week’s increase beyond the Essential tier it had highlighted.
The changes largely spare 12-month subscriptions, suggesting Sony is steering users toward annual plans, though some countries including Australia are also seeing annual-price increases.
Existing members on rolling subscriptions keep current pricing unless their plan lapses, limiting the immediate hit to active subscribers.
Sony had said on May 20 that prices for new customers would rise in select regions and only detailed Essential increases, drawing criticism that the broader hike was poorly disclosed.
User sentiment is already weak: only 18% of respondents in one poll said PS Plus Essential still offers value for money in 2026.
