Milton’s Town Council unanimously approved IQ Fiber to build a fiber-optic network in town-owned rights-of-way, with construction set to start later this year and finish in 18 to 24 months.
IQ Fiber said the build targets rising demand for faster home internet as more residents work remotely, and the company is pitching service tiers of up to 5 gigabits initially, with capacity to reach 10.
The Jacksonville-based provider began its Delaware expansion in March, is already operating in Dewey Beach, and has opened a Dover office that will support 50 repair and administrative jobs statewide.
Monthly internet-only plans will range from $65 to $125, and the company said it will use directional boring rather than open trenching to limit environmental disruption during installation.
The Milton project fits Delaware’s broader push for faster broadband under Gov. Matt Meyer’s economic development agenda, with town staff still set to review the operating agreement.
