2027 is now the target for King Conan filming, with Arnold Schwarzenegger saying the long-delayed sequel is finally “a reality now.”
A deal between Conan Properties International, Schwarzenegger and Twentieth Century Fox cleared the way for production after roughly a decade of stop-start sequel talk.
Schwarzenegger said the story hinges on Conan ruling for 40 years, growing older and complacent, with rivals trying to take him out in an Unforgiven-style return with large-scale battles.
Christopher McQuarrie is attached to direct, while Schwarzenegger said he wants original Conan director John Milius involved as a producer.
The project would bring Schwarzenegger back to one of his most enduring roles 44 years after 1982’s Conan the Barbarian and 42 years after 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer.
