DOJ Investigates Ilhan Omar Over 2009 Marriage as Vance Revives Unproven Immigration Fraud Claims

JD Vance said the Justice Department is now examining whether Rep. Ilhan Omar committed immigration fraud tied to her 2009 legal marriage to Ahmed Elmi.
Vance linked the probe to long-running allegations that Elmi was Omar’s brother and that the marriage was part of an immigration scheme, saying DOJ would prosecute if it found a crime.
Omar has denied the accusation, calling it a bigoted lie in December, and the claim that Elmi was her brother has not been proven in public records.
The remarks extend Vance’s earlier push: in a March podcast interview, he said he had spoken with White House adviser Stephen Miller about possible legal action against the Minnesota Democrat.
The investigation was raised in the context of Trump’s anti-fraud task force, which the administration says targets fraud, waste and abuse across federal benefit programs.
What new evidence prompted a federal review of Ilhan Omar's marriage history after years of unproven allegations?
