30 vendors are now selling produce, handmade goods and Kentucky-made products as the Buechel Farmers Market reopens at Louisville’s Train Depot for its second season.
SNAP benefits are being accepted for the first time this year, with shoppers exchanging benefits for wood tokens that can be spent on approved items at participating vendors.
Sadie Iovenko said the change should widen the market’s customer base while improving access to fresh local food that is not always available at grocery stores.
The weekly market runs every Sunday through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., extending the Train Depot site’s community food access into the fall.
