Google Brings Play Store Into Gemini in Weeks, Expanding to 450,000 Titles Later This Year

Google will start rolling out Play Store integration in Gemini within weeks, letting users get app recommendations and install apps directly from Gemini on Android, Gemini Live and the web.
The feature pulls from Play Store listings and reviews instead of Gemini’s broader web results, aiming to make app discovery more precise when users explicitly ask for software help.
Gemini can also point users to apps they already have installed when those apps fit the task, while Google says unsolicited app suggestions will be limited to avoid making recommendations feel like ads.
Later this year, the same discovery tools will extend beyond apps to movies and TV shows, including guidance on which streaming apps are needed to watch specific content.
Google has said the rollout requires little extra work from developers, positioning Gemini as a broader search and discovery layer across the Play ecosystem.
