Jeanine Pirro said Tuesday she will press ahead with her D.C. juvenile-crime crackdown “one way or the other,” escalating a plan to hold parents accountable after a viral brawl at a Navy Yard Chipotle.
Three leading Democratic mayoral candidates — Janeese Lewis George, Kenyan McDuffie and Gary Goodweather — said after Monday’s debate they would not use Metropolitan Police resources to support Pirro’s curfew-linked enforcement.
Pirro said she can pursue parents through school truancy channels, family court, the local attorney general and court supervision orders, arguing local politicians will not determine whether the city is safe.
Janeese Lewis George called the curfew approach “dangerous,” citing federal troops and masked ICE agents in the city and urging expanded youth programming instead.
Muriel Bowser still backs Pirro’s broader push against violent teen takeovers, leaving the dispute as an early fault line in the race to lead Washington.
