More than 50 Colorado veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars were honored by Denver Broncos lineman Garett Bolles at a USAA event in Colorado Springs earlier this month.
Those veterans are traveling with Honor Flight of Southern Colorado to Washington, D.C., this weekend to visit memorials, with many making the trip for the first time.
Bolles, whose grandfather served in the Korean War and died earlier this year, said the event carried personal weight and called the veterans the "real heroes."
The 9-year Broncos veteran said hearing their stories reinforced his Memorial Day message that Americans should remember the sacrifices behind everyday freedoms.
