Thick As Thieves Launches on Steam for $5 as 2-map Stealth Debut Draws Mixed Reviews

$5 Thick As Thieves launches on Steam on May 20 as OtherSide Entertainment’s new stealth game from Deus Ex and Thief veterans Warren Spector and Paul Neurath.
Two maps, randomized objectives and three difficulty levels stretch the campaign beyond its advertised four hours, with co-op heists and light-and-sound stealth forming the game’s main appeal.
Reviewers say that low price reflects a thin package: guard AI, alarms, turrets and tripwires offer little consequence, leaving the stealth systems easy to exploit even on higher difficulties.
Last month OtherSide shifted the project from a PvPvE rivalry format to co-op, a change the review suggests may explain the compromised scope and half-finished feel.
The result is a serviceable spiritual successor to Thief and Deus Ex for a fiver, but one that raises doubts about whether a deeper, fuller version will follow.
Can a $5 game from Thief's creators recapture the magic, or is it a compromised vision?
With only two maps at launch, what is the future for this spiritual successor to Deus Ex?
