Los Angeles County charged Gabriela Gonzalez, her father Francisco Gonzalez and ex-boyfriend Kai Faron Cordrey with attempted murder, conspiracy and solicitation over an alleged 2020-2022 plot targeting Jack Avery.
Prosecutors say the scheme grew out of a yearslong custody fight over Gonzalez and Avery’s 7-year-old daughter, with Francisco Gonzalez allegedly sending about $10,000 disguised as web-development payments and Cordrey later seeking another $4,000.
Cordrey allegedly used the alias “LizardKing69,” moved money through a Gemini crypto account and gave Avery’s address to a supposed dark-web hitman who was actually an undercover FBI agent.
Gabriela Gonzalez was arrested in California, Francisco Gonzalez in Florida on May 18 and is expected to waive extradition; prosecutors recommended $2 million bail for each defendant.
Avery has said he feared for his life, sought a restraining order and is pursuing sole custody, while authorities have not explained why arrests came years after the alleged plot.
