Germany — Europe’s biggest gas market — is not setting aside enough fuel for winter as the Middle East crisis keeps major gas volumes off the market.
European natural gas prices have surged because the Iran war is tightening supply just as the region needs to rebuild inventories for the colder months.
Trading Hub Europe said a day earlier it would not step in to refill German storage, arguing stock levels should rise soon even without intervention.
That leaves Europe’s winter gas cushion increasingly exposed to geopolitical disruption, with Germany’s storage pace now a key test for regional energy security.
