2027 is when Singapore will begin an International Atomic Energy Agency review of whether it has the capabilities needed to make an informed decision on advanced nuclear energy deployment.
The assessment will examine core readiness areas including nuclear safety management, radioactive waste handling and emergency planning, the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment said.
The review is aimed at decision-making rather than an immediate buildout, giving the city-state an external benchmark as it weighs whether advanced nuclear technologies could play a future role.
