Valve’s latest Steam tag overhaul formally added “Bullet Heaven” while removing 28 labels, including “Roguevania,” in a change now live across the storefront.
Developer pressure and shifting genre language helped drive the update, with tags serving as a key tool for search, recommendations and audience targeting on Steam.
“Bullet Heaven” had already gained momentum through a Steam-curated festival, and its official adoption gives a clearer label to games built around auto-attacking and upgrade-heavy survival play.
The removals show Valve is also pruning narrower or inconsistent categories as it refines discoverability on a platform where tags have shaped visibility since 2014.
