More than 70 first-wave laptop designs will use Intel's new Project Firefly framework in China, pairing the launch of Wildcat Lake-based Core Series 3 chips with a standardized design approach.
A 50-pin FFC connector, modular motherboard and I/O layout, and shared parts are meant to cut costs and simplify repairs; Intel said the new board is 5% smaller and uses 7% fewer devices.
Intel is pushing the platform into mainstream and entry-level AI laptops, targeting thin-and-light designs around 11mm and working with partners including ASUS, Honor, HP, Lenovo and others.
Prices already seen on early models start at $449 for CHUWI's Unibook and about $600 for Honor's X14, extending Intel's broader push to challenge Apple's $599 MacBook Neo in China.
