A news organization launched an investigation into Alaska internet companies and asked residents to submit a survey on internet costs, speeds and service quality in their communities.
The reporting effort centers on a persistent gap: Alaskans often pay more for slower internet than most Americans despite billions of dollars in government spending meant to improve access.
Residents who cannot use the survey can also share experiences directly with reporter Kyle Hopkins at 907-854-8540 by phone or WhatsApp, with more participation options planned.
The outlet said it will contact people before publishing any part of their submissions, framing the project as a statewide check on whether public broadband spending is delivering results.
With $1 billion in funding, why do Alaskans face the nation's slowest internet at some of its highest prices?
Will taxpayer-funded networks create real competition, or just subsidize the same companies under investigation?
