53% of respondents backed Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae’s Cabinet in the Mainichi survey, down 12 points from 65% in October 2025 after a brief post-election rebound.
50% said the government’s response to inflation was insufficient, while only 21% were satisfied, underscoring the economic frustration driving the slide.
38% also voiced concern over the ruling party’s move to shorten debate on the 2026 budget, compared with 25% who were not concerned.
