Capita Faces Protests Over Delays for 1.7 Million Civil Service Pensions

London protesters targeted Capita’s AGM after months of delays left civil servants and survivors unable to access lump sums or regular pension income.
Capita took over the 1.7 million-member Civil Service Pension Scheme in December, but system failures, a malfunctioning online portal and long call waits have disrupted claims and payments.
Fiona McGinness said her late husband’s pension has still not been processed since his January death, while Pamela Moultrie said payments stopped entirely after Capita told her to reapply following her husband’s death.
The complaints add to pressure on Capita after a February parliamentary grilling over its handling of the scheme and an April disclosure that some members’ data was affected by a breach.
Capita said it is working with the Cabinet Office to restore normal service levels, has added trained staff and apologized for the worry and frustration caused.
