Quest users can now view Google Street View in WorldLens VR with an AI-generated 3D depth layer that turns flat panoramas into subtly parallax-rich scenes.
The effect is built in real time from a single 2D panorama because Google does not provide third-party LiDAR or depth maps, with the developer prioritizing realistic presence over exaggerated pop-out visuals.
Dense urban streets and indoor spaces show the clearest gains, while rapid location hopping can still trigger high-RAM errors and occasional crashes; the developer said lifetime crash rates remain under 1%.
WorldLens also added a proprietary 4x neural upscaler to sharpen close-up textures, and a SteamVR-PCVR version is in development to improve loading, caching and tile pop-in.
