Chamath Palihapitiya said PwC and Accenture risk "letting the fox into the hen house" by embedding OpenAI and Anthropic inside their consulting businesses.
His argument is that the AI firms are using those partnerships to learn from enterprise deployments while also building services that could compete directly with consultants.
The warning followed OpenAI's launch of OpenAI Deployment Company, backed by McKinsey, to help organizations build and deploy AI systems rather than rely solely on outside advisers.
PwC and Anthropic last week expanded their alliance with a joint center of excellence and plans to train and certify 30,000 PwC professionals on Claude, while Accenture separately partnered with OpenAI for federal AI deployments.
Palihapitiya said generative AI has already crushed the low end of SaaS, shifting the fight to complex enterprise work where AI developers increasingly need deployment arms that can also threaten incumbents.
