Pelosi Endorses Connie Chan in June 2 San Francisco House Race

Two weeks before San Francisco’s top-two primary, Nancy Pelosi formally backed Supervisor Connie Chan to succeed her in Congress, ending weeks of more indirect support.
Pelosi said in a campaign video to be released Tuesday that Chan understands the city’s values and is ready to fight for “fundamental freedoms and democratic values.”
Chan faces state Sen. Scott Wiener, self-funding tech businessman Saikat Chakrabarti and activist Marie Hurabiell in the race for California’s 11th District, which Pelosi has held since a 1987 special election.
The contest has become a proxy for broader Democratic tensions over affordability, how to confront President Donald Trump, and issues including Israel and artificial intelligence.
