Washington sanctioned Cuba’s main intelligence agency and top leaders after reports Havana had obtained more than 300 military drones from Russia and Iran.
Miguel Diaz-Canel answered by warning a US attack would trigger a “bloodbath with incalculable consequences,” while insisting Cuba poses no threat and has a right to defend itself.
Axios, citing US intelligence officials, said Cuba was considering possible drone strikes on Guantanamo Bay, US military vessels and even Florida.
The exchange sharpened tensions as speculation grows that the United States is weighing military action against Cuba’s communist government.
