Maher said on Monday’s “Club Random” podcast that Kamala Harris and the Clintons avoid tough interviews, accusing Democrats of only appearing where they are “pre-adored.”
Asked by will.i.am whom he still wants to interview, Maher said “mostly Democrats,” then argued Harris’s loss reflected a party culture unwilling to face hostile or skeptical questioning.
Maher tied that reluctance to what he called Democrats’ embrace of “silly anti-common sense ideas,” contrasting the current party with the more pragmatic Obama and Bush-era Democrats.
He said both parties are increasingly driven by younger fringe voices amplified by social media, though he argued the problem is especially visible on the left; Harris and the Clintons did not immediately respond.
