17-year-old Cristian Mondragon was identified as one of three suspects arrested after up to 12 apparently random shootings across Austin over the weekend.
Austin police said the attacks injured four people — one critically — and hit fire stations, apartment complexes, homes and stores, mostly in South and East Austin, with no clear motive.
A vehicle tied to the shootings was located shortly after 3:20 p.m. Sunday using Flock Safety technology, and a pursuit ended near North FM 973 Road before three suspects fled.
Two suspects were arrested around 3:50 p.m. in Manor, while the third was detained about 9:30 p.m. at an H-E-B Fuel station after a search involving nearly 200 officers, SWAT, helicopters and drones.
Mondragon faces charges of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest in a motor vehicle as investigators continue sorting out the broader shooting spree.
