A Norfolk Southern freight train hit a septic truck at about 4 p.m. on May 14 in Chesapeake, Virginia, destroying the vehicle, overturning it and spilling sewage at the crossing.
Police said preliminary findings indicate the truck failed to stop at a posted stop sign before entering the private crossing, where witness video captured the train T-boning the truck.
The male driver was found with life-threatening injuries but was listed in stable condition by Friday; no one on the train was hurt.
