Anthropic said it is buying Stainless, a startup founded in 2022 that builds SDKs and MCP server tooling used to connect AI agents to external APIs and tools.
Stainless has generated every official Anthropic SDK since the early days of the API, and its software turns API specs into developer tools across TypeScript, Python, Go, Java and Kotlin.
Anthropic framed the deal as a way to make Claude more useful by improving how agents reach data and software systems, while folding Stainless' team into its platform engineering effort.
The acquisition extends Anthropic's broader push to build out Claude's enterprise and small-business ecosystem, where connectors, workflows and developer tooling are becoming central to AI adoption.
