More than 400 space enthusiasts packed the Canadian Museum of History as the Artemis II crew capped its Ottawa visit with a public event centered on Canada’s next role in lunar exploration.
Jeremy Hansen used the stop to press for fresh Canadian space ambition, telling innovators to pursue "crazy" ideas and predicting Canadians will reach the moon with partners before helping pave the way to Mars.
Earlier Wednesday, Hansen, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch met Prime Minister Mark Carney, giving him a Canadian flag patch flown on Artemis while receiving commemorative coins and a Parliament Hill flag from April 10.
Public enthusiasm was evident across Ottawa: people arrived hours early for a National Arts Centre Q&A, about 100 rushed to microphones for questions, and children in astronaut suits filled the crowd.
The road show continues in Quebec, where Industry Minister Mélanie Joly is set to welcome the crew at the Canadian Space Agency headquarters in Longueuil before a Montreal business event on Friday.
