Brenda Liliana Rivera-Estrada, 30, was taken into ICE custody after Maricopa County prosecutors declined to file charges tied to an April 12 rollover crash that killed her 9-year-old daughter and injured three other children.
Police said Rivera-Estrada appeared impaired, witnesses reported she was speeding above the 65-mph limit, troopers smelled marijuana at the scene, and prosecutors linked the case to alleged manslaughter and child abuse.
ICE said she was booked into the Maricopa County intake facility on April 16, then arrested through its Criminal Alien Program after local release on a $100,000 bond.
Officials said the Mexican national entered through Nogales on Feb. 14, 2009, with 30-day border-crosser authorization, overstayed, and will remain in immigration custody pending removal proceedings.
