Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra brings back variable aperture for the first time since the Galaxy S9, aiming to improve low-light shots, detail and depth-of-field control.
The camera system also drops the dedicated 3x telephoto lens, using sensor cropping for 3x-to-5x zoom while adding a new low-light main sensor and upgraded HDR on the ultra-wide camera.
A 2.5 mm front-camera cutout is designed to make the display look cleaner, while the Ultra and Pro models keep Samsung OLED panels.
Samsung is reportedly considering BOE OLED panels for base S27 models to offset rising RAM and storage costs and keep the lineup competitively priced against rivals including Apple.
