Na Hong-jin said Monday that a sequel to “Hope” is already in the works, with a completed script he wants to shoot if the opportunity arises.
The disclosure came a day after the film’s Cannes premiere, where the Korean director unveiled his alien action epic blending survival drama with an original sci-fi mythology.
“Hope” features Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung and Hoyeon Jung alongside Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Russell, with the three international stars playing CGI aliens invading Earth.
At the press conference, Vikander and Russell said Na’s reputation and Korean cinema drew them in, underscoring the film’s cross-border ambitions as it launches from Cannes.
