Gemini 3.5 Flash debuted this week as Google’s new AI model, positioned for autonomous agents that can handle tasks such as planning projects and writing code.
Google said the model is significantly stronger at programming than earlier versions, more than twice as fast as Gemini 3.1 Pro and four times as fast as rivals Claude Opus 4.7 and GPT-5.5.
New safety mechanisms were added to curb malicious use as Google pushes the model into agent-style workflows that can act more independently for users.
Gemini 3.5 Flash is available through the Gemini app, Gemini API, Gemini Enterprise, Google AI Search and Antigravity, with a Gemini 3.5 Flash Pro version coming for professional users.
