May 20 brings the Netflix debut of “Kylie,” a three-part documentary in which Kylie Minogue reflects on a 40-year career, saying performing is where “life makes sense” to her.
John Battsek’s years of persuasion finally led Minogue to participate, with director Michael Harte building the series from home footage, photos and new interviews with family, former partners and friends including Nick Cave.
Minogue, 57, uses the film to revisit early tabloid misogyny, her relationships with Jason Donovan, Michael Hutchence and Cave, and the lasting impact of her breast-cancer diagnosis.
A new song, “Light Up,” launches alongside the documentary, while Minogue dismissed rumors that she appears on Madonna’s upcoming album.
The release packages Minogue’s commercial scale—17 albums, 80 million records sold and more than 5 billion streams—into a portrait of resilience, privacy and enduring pop relevance.
