iPhone Users Can Hide Lock Screen Control Center Line by Disabling Access as Face ID Still Restores It

The line under the battery icon on an iPhone Lock Screen is a Control Center indicator, and it disappears when users turn off Control Center under Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Allow Access When Locked.
That change also blocks Control Center shortcuts from the Lock Screen, preventing someone with a stolen phone from quickly enabling airplane mode and making real-time tracking harder.
Apple still allows the indicator and Control Center access when Face ID recognizes the owner, so the line may remain visible while the user is looking at the phone.
The trade-off is convenience versus security: removing the line means giving up one-swipe access to tools like the flashlight or cellular controls while the phone is locked.
If this feature makes iPhones so vulnerable to theft, why does Apple still enable it by default on every device?
With Stolen Device Protection now standard, is disabling this one iPhone feature still necessary to stop thieves?
