A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Liuzhou in Guangxi early Monday, killing two people, leaving one missing and sending four to hospital with no life-threatening injuries.
Thirteen buildings collapsed in the city, prompting search and rescue operations and the evacuation of more than 7,000 residents.
Railway authorities warned of transport disruptions while checking track infrastructure, though state media said power, communications, water, gas and road traffic were operating normally.
The quake was also felt beyond the immediate area, with Hong Kong recording more than 10 tremor reports after the shock about 550 km away.
