Gemini Adds Spotify Voice Control for Premium Users, but Limits Playback to Mobile

Gemini can now search and play Spotify tracks, playlists and podcasts through natural-language prompts, turning vague requests or lyric fragments into immediate playback.
Spotify access is enabled in Gemini’s Connected apps settings on a phone, and requested songs or podcast episodes require a Spotify Premium subscription.
The integration also handles mood- and activity-based requests—such as workout music, focus playlists or the latest podcast episode—without opening the Spotify app.
Key limits remain: Spotify playback does not work from Gemini on the web, and Gemini still cannot create playlists, filter tracks into new lists or start radio stations.
