A 36-dunam site near Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem will be transferred to the Defense Ministry for a new IDF museum, defense minister’s office and relocated military recruitment center.
The cabinet approved the plan during a special Jerusalem Day meeting, framing it as a sovereignty and security move that expands the defense establishment’s footprint in the city.
The new recruitment office will replace an older central Jerusalem facility with more accessible services, while the museum is planned as a national education and heritage center for youth, soldiers and the public.
The project follows Israel’s seizure and January demolition of the former UNRWA compound; Israeli officials cite alleged staff involvement in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, an accusation UNRWA denies.
