Austin officials said three young people are now in custody after at least 10 weekend shootings across the city wounded four people, including one victim in critical condition.
Police said at least two suspects drove stolen vehicles from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning, firing at two fire stations, apartment buildings and houses during a string of robberies and shootings.
Two boys, ages 15 and 17, were caught after a traffic stop in a stolen car and a foot chase; a third juvenile was detained later Sunday night at a gas station in Manor, 15 miles northeast of Austin.
Chief Lisa Davis said the gun used in the shootings had been stolen earlier by the 15-year-old, while the 17-year-old was also wanted in a separate firearm theft.
Austin had ordered a large part of south Austin to shelter in place during the search, and Mayor Kirk Watson said investigators still have no identified motive and believe the attacks were random.
