Saudi Arabia said it shot down three drones that entered its territory from Iraqi airspace, according to a Sunday evening defense ministry statement.
The interception came hours after a drone hit an electricity generator outside Abu Dhabi's Barakah nuclear plant perimeter, raising the possibility of linked attacks on Gulf states.
Major General Turki Al-Maliki said Riyadh would take operational measures against any sovereignty breach and act to protect citizens and residents.
