A third 16-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in Tochigi Prefecture over the home invasion that left Eiko Tomiyama, 69, dead and two other residents injured.
Police suspect him of robbery and murder tied to a break-in early Thursday morning at the house north of Tokyo, where Tomiyama was fatally stabbed.
Two other 16-year-olds had already been taken into custody, and investigators believe the teens were recruited online to carry out the crime.
