An urgent Metropolitan Police investigation is examining several Windsor Castle officers accused of falling asleep on duty and leaving royal protection posts unattended.
The force said the alleged conduct fell below standards expected of frontline protective officers, putting scrutiny on personnel responsible for guarding the Royal Family at the Berkshire residence.
The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards is assessing whether the officers should be moved to restricted duties, with a decision due before the end of next week.
