17 seconds was all Ronda Rousey needed to submit Gina Carano by armbar in the main event of Jake Paul’s first MVP MMA card at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome.
The debut show leaned heavily on comeback fights: Rousey had not competed since her 2016 knockout loss, Carano had been out of MMA for nearly 17 years, and Francis Ngannou returned from a nearly two-year layoff.
Ngannou capped that return with a first-round knockout of Philipe Lins, while Mike Perry stopped Nate Diaz in the second round after a doctor halted the fight over a cut on Diaz’s head.
MVP MMA 1 marked Most Valuable Promotions’ first move into mixed martial arts, using former UFC names and long-awaited returns to launch the new brand.
