Letlow, Fleming Reach Louisiana GOP Senate Runoff as Cassidy Finishes Third With 24.4%

With more than 95% of the vote counted, Julia Letlow led Louisiana's Republican Senate primary with 45.2%, John Fleming took 28.3%, and incumbent Bill Cassidy was eliminated at 24.4%.
Jamie Davis also advanced on the Democratic side, winning 47.8% and forcing a runoff after topping Gary Crockett at 26.4% and Nicholas Albares at 25.9%.
Letlow dominated most parishes across the state, while Cassidy's strongest showings came in East Baton Rouge, Jefferson and Orleans, where only 74% to 78% of votes were in.
Because Cook rates the seat Solidly Republican, the GOP runoff winner is expected to enter November with a strong advantage.
